What An Amazing Day

Monday, October 08, 2012

Today was amazing. Just over all, a very good day. It really was like most other days, but things just seemed to fit together better than they usually do. I had to get up early to care for my sister until her caregiver got here, even though I'm really not supposed to be alone with her yet, but since she slept pretty much the entire time, I thought we did pretty well. Her caregiver had a medical appointment so she left and we met her at the pool we swim in. My sister walked laps for a little while then she sat down while I swam laps. I'm happy to say that since my surgery (which was 13 weeks ago today) I've gone from not being able to swim at all, to 10 laps to now I'm at 24 laps each time. I know that doesn't seem like much, especially considering I was swimming at least 72 in the months before my surgery, after not being able to do anything for months being able to improve each time instead of getting worse has been great for me.
Last Friday my laptop died. I'm taking classes online, so I can't be without a computer for very long. I've been researching new laptops for several months as I've watched my laptop die. Once it finally did die, I knew what I wanted to replace it. I decided to get a MacBook Air. I've already got an iPhone and iPad, so the Apple products aren't completely foreign to me. Getting used to the new operating system is going to take some time, but I think it will be much better in the long run. The battery life of this computer is far better than any other I've ever owned as well as several other things that caused me to come to decide to buy a Mac. The 10 year old boy I nanny for was so excited that I'd come to this decision, so he got to go with me to buy the computer. He set it up for me, and gave me basic instructions on how to use it. I'm using it now, and attempting to get used to the feel of it (it's WAY lighter than my last laptop), the new operating system, and the different software. I think it might take some time, but I'm going to get it.
I don't know if my good mood, which happened before the laptop, was because the weather was so nice here (about 50, but super sunny), or I just woke up in a good mood. But whatever caused my happiness today, I'm going to take it. It was a nice day and one I'm sad to see go.
