Today is the day of my mum's farewell. I am fortunate enough to have my hubby and both children with me. A lot of family from all over Australia have arrived.
We are making this a day of celebration and acknoligment of a woman who experienced some of life's cruelty's and the fact that she took a gamble and left war torn Holland and came to Australia.
She gave birth to 5 children,I am the first born, exactly 12 months after arriving here.
She led a busy and complex life, having survived the ravages of the Dutch "Winter Famine" of 1947-8 22000 people were not so fortunate.
She survived Tunberculosis, lived with crippling athritis and then the cruelest blow of all, dementia.
I am now at peace as I know my mother is free.
Thankyou for allowing me to share this with you, my dear wonderful Sparkfriends
