Day 48: Living Petri Dish

Monday, October 08, 2012

While searching for an image that describes how I'm feeling right now, I came upon this one. It's perfect. With the antibiotics and probiotics battling away inside my gut, I feel like a living petri dish. I don't know what to expect from one hour to the next. It's such a drastic and disappointing change from where I was just a couple of weeks ago. In comparison, I was sleeping so well, and my digestion was good. Now I have headaches, skin rashes and horrible nights even though I am completely exhausted. It's amazing what a change in your flora can do.

So, I'm trying to get things into some sense of balance before I have to leave for ten days on Thursday. It's no fun to have to travel with the remnants of a kidney infection and unpredictable digestion. I guess all I can do is try to prepare as much as possible in advance - pack food that's easy to digest, get room-temperature stable probiotics...and keep my fingers crossed...

That is the perfect illustration, your poor gut sure is getting kicked eh. I really feel for you. I really really REALLY hope that it's calmed down by the time you leave for your trip. I'm pulling for that to happen, for sure!!

Ugh. You're right. You're doing all you can do, and preparing/controlling as much as you possibly can. It might suck, but you'll come through the other side (and we'll be in the same time zone, so maybe connecting will be easier??). XOXO Feel better, darling.

As one who gets a whole lot of lung infections, I relate.
