Please send me your ideas!

Monday, October 08, 2012

My birthday is coming up next month. My husband has never been very good at planning things, so I have decided to take matters into my own hands. The last few birthdays have been disappointing, and last year was a disaster. I had one friend talking about all the abuses he received as a child. I had another friend make fun of me because I like to ride my bike for site seeing (as opposed to competing in races). Two people almost got into a fight. We sat around and talked (argued) and overate. I left in tears before they even cut the cake.
My friends want to get together with me, but I need to have a plan. If we are all going to be together, we need to do something besides sit around and eat and talk.

Id like to brainstorm about some things to do that would be fun! I thought about getting a birthday package at the bowling alley or the hockey game, but I would like to hear some ideas from other people. Most of my friends are between the ages of 45 60 and most are fairly active. Were in Michigan, so its COLD outside already. Please send me some ideas or thoughts!

Do you really want to be with people that will make your day miserable!!! It is your day and you do what you want. However, if you choose to do something I like the bowling idea because there you are busy and not sitting around. This way is things don't go right you can leave after the games. Stay positive and think about you!! You deserve a great birthday. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It is YOUR birthday so YOU should choose WHO you spend (and don't spend) it with!!! It sounds like your friends/family dampened your spirits last year... perhaps that wasn't intentional... so if you're giving them a second chance.. perhaps you should search your local area... are there any musuems that you could host an outing to? a winery or brewery? something historical....
Whatever you do.... remember it's YOUR special day and you should have a great time!

An activity-based event sounds like a great idea - keep everyone busy so they have no time for arguing or being miserable!

Or do you have local charities that set up days when you can go along and help with something - like painting a local school or clearing a footpath. It might not sound very festive but it's great fun really plus it might make them realise there are people much worse off than them!

On a more serious note - you say that your friends want to get together with you. But do YOU want to get together with them? Really? In your heart of hearts would you actually rather have the day to yourself, at a spa being pampered, at home relaxing etc etc?

It's your day - do something that will make YOU happy emoticon
