So Saturday morning I was awake at 5:00. I was nervous about being late to my 8:00 Color Run, 45 minutes away from home. V came in and snuggled with me (she does that frequently - it's like she needs to know that I'm still there). Then around 5:30 I got the whole family up and we started getting ready. I greased my hair and face down with Coconut Oil. I donned my white shirt, with my color run numbers attached, and headed out the door. The girls were excited because I gave them my packet of paint powder, and told them they could throw it at me (instead of me throwing it at the finish line).
Cincinnati was INSANE. There were so many people there at 6:45 in the morning. It was mind boggling. It was dark. It was cold (42 degrees). I was supposed to run with a whole group of ladies, but most of them backed out within the last week. But at least I knew I had M and the girls there to cheer me on, that kept me going!!
V, Me and DQ
There were at least 10,000 people at this event... RUNNING. There was music, and items being thrown into the crowd. It truly was a happy event! I was in the 3rd wave of 1000-1500 people being let out the gates. I had my Zombies Run app going and just had a blast. I got painted as much as I could at the color stations. I didn't run the whole thing - I kept getting a stitch in my side and gave into the pain. I speed walked what I didn't run though. I didn't time myself, but I did do 5.5 miles in 65 minutes (according to the Zombies Run App). I was so pumped and full of energy when I got home I couldn't sit still. So I baked cookies for the reunion!!
Here are some more photos!
The girls cheering others on while they waited for me.
Finish Line Festivities. It was so crowded here - I couldn't run across the finish line. Only wade through the people and enjoy all the paint tossing.
Me... in my paint spattered glory!
OHHHHH YEAH! Finished!!!!
My Color Run Inspiration. Lost this man to Leukemia a long time ago, and the charity was Leukemia/Lymphoma society. Brought my mom and dad to tears when they saw this. Made them proud of me.
The reunion was fun. Those people scare the hell out of me, but I smiled and held everything together. I'm so glad it's all over for at least 4 years!
I even got a bit of sewing done! I got 1/2 of my corset "boned", and the zipper stitched in on the front instead of the busk enclosure.
I decided to go with a zipper to make it look a bit more "steampunk".
This week will be a real busy one because the McDonalds Peeler fundraiser starts. I have to be at the studio every day M-F from 5:30-7:30 to pass them out to families who want to participate. I am going to try to still get fitness done, though!
