I need to "own" my plan

Monday, October 08, 2012

After a couple of years of working with my plan trying to balance healthy eating and exercise, tweaking it when things weren't going well. I did reach my goal. Now I am again back to trying to balance healthy eating and exercise on a different level. Sometimes it gets frustrating with numbers going up and down, but I know these are like growing pains. Each "pain" needs to be addressed and tweaked as I go along.

These past couple of weeks I have come to the conclusion that what I need to do is "own my plan", embrace it as this journey continues. No two people are alike; what works for one may not work for another. I need to strive to do my best and look for what will work for me on my plan.

One thing I know for certain is that when I am over whelmed I just go back to the basics: healthier eating, exercise and water! I can go back to weighing & measuring (which I do 80% of the time). I can go back to 20 minutes of exercise every day (for consistency). I can go back to tracking everything (especially my water).

No matter where YOU are with your plan try to own it....make it you own. Find what works for you. We need to keep moving forward on this journey and together we will.
Thanks for stopping by to read this....hugs to all.

Thanks for the encouragement. It is just what I need to hear. Today I will own my plan and go back to basics. It is a lifestyle change and it wont happen over night so I need to just stop trying to make it happen over night. Thanks again.

Barb...what you said is so true. This is a long and often frustrating journey with moments of success along the way. Guess that's why it is a JOURNEY because it sure does take time to LIVE AND LEARN what works best for us. I am also still tweaking my plan, having my ups and downs but learning a lot about myself along the way.

You know I think you are amazing for reaching your goal and now trying to maintain it. This is a life long process and you are working at it one step at a time. I am there right along with you. And even though I still have a long way to go, I am NOT giving up. I will get to where you are and please know that you give me hope and inspiration every day. Keep going, my friend. I am so proud of all you have accomplished. Have a great week and keep making your plan, "your own." Many hugs being sent your way.

emoticon Great advice to live by! I think it is great to read about those that are now training to maintain what you worked so hard to achieve. I will be happy to be at the point of maintaining someday and remembering that it is a long term goal and a real life style change forever! emoticon

emoticon Barb. You are so spot on. I know some who allow cheat days. That would never ever work for me. A member tried her hardest to sell me on the idea and to prove that she was right. Great if it works for her I know it would never work for me. I have to be consistent. My Mom says I am like a drill sergeant. Well, the proof is in the pudding, I am 108 pounds down. emoticon and it has to be our way. Thanks for the reminder.

Great advice. It is a constant re-evaluation thing isn't it? Reading your blog, I realized I need to focus more on getting the water I need. It seems like this would be as natural as eating and logging my calories, but somehow I get off track on the water intake. Have a great day!

Really good points! We are all different and so our plans need to meet our particular needs. As you say, own your plan and work it. Sounds like you are on the right track!
