Sudden Brrrrr but....

emoticon Boy, talk about a rude awakening! Went to bed Sat. night, temp in the house was 73. Woke up at 5am looking for my summer quilt to pull over me. When I got up at 8, I saw the house temp had dropped to 65!!! emoticon There is no doubt fall is here. Time for flu shots, buying emoticon emoticon goodies for the kiddies.

It's also a wonderous time. Summer has left (bringing it's nice temps with it), we've no doubt about that. But the time of change has started. Look at the beautiful colors nature has graced us with this year. They say it's because of the dry summer, I don't care. It's like a whole new world out there.

Makes me wish for my childhood again where you looked for those pile of leaves to jump and play in. There's nothing like the smell of Autumn. It does have a special smell, go out on a nice, cool, sunny day and take a deep breath. There is the smell of the leaves, the mums, the woodfires starting to burn. Jack Frost takes his paint brush to the grass, bushes and pumpkins.

Thanksgiving is next month, comes early this year, on the 22nd. We had planned to go and finally meet our grand daughter that week but my husbands Scrooge like employer has decided that this is a "black out period" for everyone but management, of course. My DH has been there 10 yrs, no one there longer, but got no consideration at all. So we'll have a late Thanksgiving this year, leaving for Indiana (God willing) on 11/24. I keep thinking I'll never get to hold Mykelti. Everytime we planned on going out, something has gone wrong. So keep your fingers crossed for this time. Hopefully there won't be any emoticon , and we'll make it in one day. It's a 12 hour trip but we want to do it in one shot. So hopefully the weather co-operates.

Meanwhile, enjoy the colors and smells that is fall. Yeah, the warmth of summer is gone but the harshness of winter is yet to come!

I hope you get to see the grand baby soon! Our daughter lived 12 hours away for a few years and I was already having withdrawls just thinking of them having a grandbaby we wouldn't see very much. Come to find out they don't want children. They have since moved back closer to home but how Rude! The other daughter has given us two precious grandchildren and they don't live far away so we get to spoil them on a regular basis.

I would agree with you on the smells but I came to work this morning and apparently one of the neighbors thinks it's a good idea to fertilize the garden or something! Phew! It stinks to high heaven out there! Whoever did it messed up my fall smells really good. I'll try for better ones when I go home!

I do love this time of year, though. The leaves are beautiful and I love all the fall decorations that everybody but me seems to have a really good knack at putting up. Our lowest temp so far has been in the 40's, but that didn't last. I think it was 53 this morning. It felt really good to me.

Sorry the boss is a scrooge! What goes around comes around or as the Bible says "we will reap what we sow". I know you'll enjoy the time when it comes!

Have a good day! emoticon
