What a super exciting weekend. It was a much needed one too. I had the week from Haydes last week and a string of bad luck last week, but I am happy to report the stress level has diminished and I think my luck turned around (two days in a row anyway).
Went shopping on Saturday, found my favorite collectable shoes, on sale, so I had to splurge (less than $30). I only visit this store maybe once or twice a year so I figured I better load up - 17 new lovely shoes to add to my collection.
Didn't do my long run on Saturday, had a headache so I beat myself most of the day about it, so I planned to do it on Sunday. I headed out the door and I got exactly one block and it started to pour, so I turned around and went back home, bummed. I got DH to set up the treadmill, managed two miles on that before I said....the heck with this. I hate the treadmill. It had stopped raining so I decided to get out and try it again. This time, no rain. The whole time I was running I thought, geez I'm tired, why didn't I just skip it, well...this new mantra I had been repeating to myself really kept me going...
"Don't quit when you're tired, quit when you're done"
The whole time I'm running I usually scan the pavement for coins, I'll stop in a heartbeat to pick up a penny. So my runs usually net about 10 to 15 cents, on a good day it can be 30 cents. Well let me just say.... yesterday was payday. I had just finished my 7-mile run and was walking my usual cool down quarter-mile and I looked down on the sidewalk and low and behold, a $5 bill, so I bent down to pick it up and even better.... it was three $5 bills. Woo hoo, I was so danged excited I sprinted home to show the DH, woo hoo, woo hoo. So for all my family and friends who think I'm nuts for stopping to collect coins, get a load of this pic.....
Can you tell I was giddy and goofy? LOL.
Lastly, I want to give a huge shout out to my my buddy MZSLYDE01...she ran her first 5K race on Saturday and rocked it. Way to go lady, hop on over to her page to give her a big WOO HOO !!!
