Yesterday, after spending 3 days with my Trigonometry textbook, I left my family at home for the afternoon, and I did 17 miles on my bike. Ahh. It was mind-clearing. It was also exhausting! Well, actually, not exhausting...I forgot to have lunch, so I bonked at about Mile 8. Not cool. I've had a lot on my mind with these classes, and completely forgot about lunch. When I got home from that ride, I had a hot bowl of soup and some bread and felt a LOT better. I had a banana before I left, but it just wasn't enough!
Before I left on my ride, I wrapped my handlebars for the first time ever. My handlebar tape has been getting bad for a long time, and for my birthday (in JUNE!), Dan got me new handlebar tape. But I hadn't gotten around to doing it, all summer! WIth my foot stuff, it seemed pointless too. But I finally did it yesterday, got up the courage and watched a youtube video on how to do it, and it looked really good when I was done! However I had to re-wrap one side about a half mile into my ride, because I wrapped it too tight and it froze my gears in the back to wrap it too tightly around the wires. That was an adventure. But I have it on my bike now, finally. :)
My food is going really awesome. I've been within my calories for the past 4 days straight, and I'm keeping up with my water even though the weather is getting colder. Did I mention I hate winter?! :/ I feel like it's impending doom! Anyway...I'm doing great at getting green vegetables in my meals and I feel really good.
I'm also doing really great at walking away from stuff I shouldn't have. It was ISU's homecoming this past weekend and I took my kids to the parade, and they collected a LOT of candy. And I haven't had a single piece! This is huge! October sucks for me because there is so much Halloween candy everywhere you look. But I stayed strong. My husband is currently hiding the candy for a completely unrelated reason--the kids kept fighting over it, so he put it up--but I'm so glad he did because I have no clue where it is either. And I'm not going snooping around for it!!!
Finally, bonfires both evenings this weekend. I backed away from the smores BOTH nights. I can't ever have just one, and I know that, so I had zero. On Friday night, my daughter made peanut butter bars, and I only had ONE, because I was hip-deep in studying. And at last night's bonfire, there were hot dogs, and I didn't have any of those either, because they just aren't good for you. I loaded up on other stuff at the party, like the fruit salad and the veggie tray and the baked beans...but left the hot dogs and chips out of the picture.
I'm really proud of myself. I feel truly on the wagon and completely motivated right now. :D
