As part of my new healthy lifestyle, I have been walking several times a week. I started out with just a quarter of a mile at first. There are lots of hills around here, starting right at the beginning and going both ways. Slowly over the last few weeks, I have increased my mileage. Working up to a mile, then heading back. Then I went farther, to the wetland and back. Last week I pushed myself even further, and ventured past the wetland, and down another road. There I found an awesome Pileated Woodpecker who is working on a nest cavity in a Ponderosa Pine along the way. Such an awesome event for a bird lover such as myself. I was able to get within a couple of feet from the tree this bird was on and got photos and video. You can check it out on my Bird Lady Blog
Another day, my chow Cubby Bears foraged into the bushes and scared off a young buck that was bedded down. Oh the things you see when walking in the woods. Such beautiful scenery and wildlife. Really gets the endorphines running high. I have worked my way up to 4.33 miles and made it all the to the south end of the lake. So proud of myself. I sure have missed my walking!
