Setbacks - What Do I Do Next?

Well, between a wave of depression/PMS, and a mini vacation, I stopped tracking and I didn't have a regular exercise schedule. And my weight went up.

This is historically where I give up and decide it's not worth it to track it (though NOT tracking is what helped get me in trouble to begin with).

Sunday night - always a time of reckoning and reflection. I want to get my head on straight so Monday doesn't suck too bad.

My 2 things I am going to focus on are:

1) 10 minutes of exercise
2) Track ALL my food

I'll worry about the rest after I've done that for a week again.

    You have the perfect strategy to get yourself back in the game. I will say that two of the tools that have helped me the most in my weight loss journey (other than SparkPeople itself, of course!) are the Serenity Prayer and the concept of Just For Today.

    With the Serenity Prayer, you are only focusing on what you can control and you have faith that the rest will shake out on its own. When it comes to this battle we're all dealing with, there's two things we can control: what we eat and whether we exercise or not. You got that right there. You just need to have faith that the body will take care of the rest.

    Just For Today means that you focus on the here and now. Don't stress about what happened with the depression, PMS and mini-vacation; that's all in the past. It's also better not to worry about the will be here soon enough! The only thing you can do is commit to making good decisions NOW, and I know that at least for me, that has put me in good stead.

    Just keep picking yourself up. I have been going through a similar situation, although it's been longer than a week. I just came out of my own funk today, and then came across your blog while doing my evening SP check in. Today was my new start after almost a month of depressive episode. Even changing one thing at a time and sticking with that one change despite all else, will help you get back on track again. Good luck!!

    Monday is a new day. You can always start over. Just think of all the wonderful things you have learned so far here on Spark like getting back to the basics (tracking your food and getting in 10 minutes of fitness).
