My First 5k: What a RUSH!

Sunday, October 07, 2012

It was a hilly course: much more hills than I ever dealt with when running my usual course in my neighborhood, but I don't know if it was the rush of running a race or my playlist or both, but I ran faster than I ever thought I could: 31 minutes, 50 seconds! That's 10:16 miles! HOLY TOLEDO!

I had an amazing time today, meeting other runners and just reveling in my success. Just hope I can sleep well tonight!

Next race up: The Gobble Wobble on November 4 in Germantown. I can't wait!

Wow! I am so impressed! During the past month, I started incorporating running intervals when I walk, which has reduced my daily 3-miles/day to 40 minutes. I hope to get to 10-min. miles some day too. emoticon

emoticon on your first 5K. Great time. I also ran my first 5K today, but I didn't train for it nor am I a runner. I just decided at the Komen Walk this morning that I'd run the 5K instead. I did it in 34.56. I was pretty happy since I HATE running! Keep it up and good luck in your next race. emoticon
