I have been craving greek food lately. Specifically, I have been craving gyros. Greasy, salty, meaty strips wrapped in a thick soft pita and dripping with creamy tzatziki sauce.
Friday night at work, someone left a greek takeout menu on my lunch bag. (I resisted) Probably the only reason I haven't gotten a gyro is that my favorite takeout restaurant is closed.
I cured myself tonight.
Al Fresco Spinach & Feta Chicken sausage (sliced into thin strips lengthwise and browned in a nonstick pan with no oil)
Tzatziki sauce (Chobani 0% greek yogurt instead of the full fat/sour cream base)
Arnold 8 Grain Pocket Thins (not that regular pita would have been bad, I couldn't find any in the store and these were good & soft-especially after I wrapped them in foil and heated them in a warm oven for 10 minutes.
I served them with a greek salad.
DH ate the whole thing and said it was good. He agreed the tzatziki tasted as good as the place where we used to get takeout.
