How MG affects some

Sunday, October 07, 2012

This is from an annonymous friend I know on one of my MG support teams. I thought I'd share with you. It affects everyone in a different way. Me... It's just weakened my eyes and eyelids so far. I hope it doesn't proress like this with me.

I had to share this with people who will understand why I laughed at this. Last night I cut my own hair. I have cut my own hair for years, but I'd put it off for a long time this time because it's getting so physically difficult for me to do. Well, last night I did it and I stopped before I wanted to, but I got a lot done. Afterwards I crashed HARD. I managed to take a shower, then needed help getting dressed. My left leg was dragging. So I never made it back downstairs. I couldn't even move my right arm for several hours. So I stayed in bed from 11pm till today around Noon. I had no choice. I couldn't even get up to pee until around 4 am. I am moving around today but my arms are very weak, my biceps are still burning.

The funny part is that after ALL of this, my 8-year-old daughter asks me why my voice sounds bad. I told her because I did too much and my muscles are weak. She said, "What did you do?" I said, "I cut my hair." She says, "You did? It looks exactly the same to me."

I just had to laugh. Practically kill myself doing something and the one person in the house who *always* notices every little thing, thinks it looks exactly the same. LOL!!!

Thinking of you. That's really tough.

I have a cousin with myasthenia gravis - she lives far away from me, so I don't see the challenges she goes through. I know she says she feels so much better when she eats a gluten-free diet. Is that something that is commonly known in the MG community? I feel so bad that anyone has to suffer with such debility.

Hugs Debbie. I feel for your friend and pray you don't progress into such difficulty.
Hugs my friend.

Wow! That is insanely tough. Sending prayers that your MG never progresses to this level and that your friend finds relief from hers.
