My 30 Day Challenge -- Day 23 : Going strong!

Sunday, October 07, 2012

Okay -- I'm totally psyched up today. Had a great 75 minute hike this morning (boy am I going to miss having a trail head so close to my front door after I move). Tracked everything yesterday and am working on planning out today -- including budgeting in a slice of chocolate cake and ice-cream to celebrate my mom's birthday tonight at dinner! YUM.

Still working on going through the house -- thankfully I'm going to have packers from the moving company come and pack everything into boxes, but there's still so much to do before then. Time is flying!

Hope that you are having as spectacular a day as I am!

So it's funny. In previous attempts to get back into shape and/or lose weight in my roller coaster past -- I've been so focused on what the scale shows. So far (for the last three weeks working with the SP website at least) -- the scale has seemed so much less significant. Sure, it was disappointing to me yesterday when I stepped on the scale and only lost 0.2 pounds this last week -- but then I remembered that I did have two crazy days of eating just a couple days right before that (carbs carbs and mexican food overload -- YUM). BUT... I didn't go as overboard which I might have done in the past. AND.. since getting back from the trip, I've been right back to my exercise and healthy eating planning. So hopefully it's most like establishing a new normal that I occasionally deviate from, rather than the other way around. It's good!

Have a spectacular day!
7 more days left of my 30 day tracking challenge.. WOOHOO.

Yes -- good Mexican food is tough to resist. There is a great restaurant here in Phoenix called Richardson's (which I think is owned by a former governor of NM?) -- anyway, they call it cuisine of NM and it's fantastic. I only go there like maybe once or twice a year -- but love love love good NM food. YUM.

Excellent! You are excused for the carb loading - Mexican food here is FABULOUS! (Better than that stuff they call Mexican food in any other place - NM is the way to go for food). That said, it is salty and that could have been part of it. It is possible to eat Mex. food - but you have to do it carefully, and not every day unless you are a whole lot better at it than I am!

I completely agree -- trying to stick with something I can do for the long term -- and not worrying so much about being 100% perfect all the time. It seems to be working reasonably well -- and I imagine as I get more used to how I'm doing things this time around, that other small changes will eventually add up down the road as well.

We're definitely headed in the right direction!

I have found that this time I don't focus so much on the scale, and also don't focus so much on being "perfect" in what I eat. That way I can actually stay on this and make it work for good. I don't want to eat weird food or salad all day. Only what I can continue to do forever, but with portion control.
So good luck. Keep up the good work. As long as we're going in the right direction, right?
