Granddaughter homecoming, grandma to the rescue

Yesterday was my DGD's senior homecoming dance. Her friend told her not to make an appointment at the salon to have her hair done because her aunt was a stylist and would do it for free.
I dropped her off at 1:30 to have it done and she walked back in the door at 5:15 with only just over an hour to finish getting ready. She looked at me and was so sad, her hair was not as she requested it was cemented to her head, not curled and she was about to burst into tears. I asked what she wanted to do.
First she said that she hated the cemented head. I told her to wash her hair and blow dry it. I ran to the Dollar Store, picked up hair spray, bobby pins and some curling gel and hurried back home. it is now 25 minutes before her date was to pick her up. Good thing he is good natured and gave her 45 extra minutes, they decided not to eat.
We worked hard, she ate a snack while I was curling her hair and she left with a happy date and a smile on her face a bit later than expected but glowing as only a teenager can do.
