Week 8 of Marathon Training

This week was a bust. After the Tower of Terror Race, I think from walking around for 4 hours soaked from sweat, and then not getting enough sleep, I caught a nasty cold. I usually catch it early by eating a clove of garlic when I first feel symptoms, but on Monday, the symptoms were so slight I didn't pay attention. I did my upper body and core workout on Monday and that's the last time I worked out. By Tuesday, I was sick in bed. And on Wednesday, traveled to SC to visit my Grandmother and felt miserable the entire time there (including my ears being plugged the entire day). I had planned to hook up with a running group while there, but nothing like that happened. I'm still not 100% but it seems the cold is out of my chest now, and I am feeling better.

So today I got out there and ran 8 Miles and felt awesome! I went easy and enjoyed it! In the words of the group "Chumbwumba", "I get knocked down, but I get up again!"

    Whew! Sis, I am glad you are feeling better. Thansk for sharing the tip about the clove of garlic. Now that you've had an involuntary recovery window, I am sure your legs are itching for a run. I love that song... glad you are up again, a cold is "never gonna keep you down."

    You really got hit by a double whammy - first all the bad aspects of the Tower of Terror and then a cold that kept you from working out all the next week. Bummer. But I have know doubt you will be back on your game and back at training very soon! I also appreciate that you blog about the bad times as well as the good!!
