Family weekend

Sunday, October 07, 2012

So long since I have blogged! I really did start to acclimate to my empty nest. The first weekend was the most difficult, and then I felt sad periodically..especially when I would see or hear something that I associated with one of my kids! Both are doing well in school, and my son really does like his college. He really has made a lot of new friends and seems to be managing homework and free time pretty well. He likes his classes, too, which is great!

My daughter was home for fall break just in time to come with us for Family Weekend at my son's college. When we got there, he said that he had a sore throat, but thought he would be okay if we went to the football game.

It was 82 degrees when we arrived, and so were dressed appropriately for the weather. The temperature really dropped during the game and we were all freezing, so we splurged on sweatshirts for everyone. It was about 62 degrees when we left at halftime!

We were planning on taking my son and his roommate out for dinner. He still wasn't feeling great, but thought he'd be okay. He felt pretty bad during dinner...felt like he was freezing, and barely touched his food. On the way back to his dorm, we offered to take him home for the night. By the time he grabbed his laundry and books and we got home, he had a fever of 101.5. I was really glad that we got him home. He watched tv for a while, and really wouldn't even drink, although we did get some advil into him. By 10:45 he was hungry, and he sort of snacked on and off for an hour. He is still sleeping this morning, so not sure how he is doing. Keep your fingers crossed that it's short-lived!

So glad to have both of my babies home, but wishing it wasn't because one is sick. He also has mid-terms this week...rotten time to be sick.

It is so nice when they come home for a couple days. Glad you had a good time and hope your son is feeling better.

Will see mine tomorrow for a little while. He is coming home for my dad's memorial service but has to leave shortly after to get back for work. It will be the first time since the end of August that both boys will be with me.
