They make me fairly popular with my nieces and nephews though!
One of my hobbies is makeup. Some of it is stuff you can wear every day.
Some of it is a bit more dramatic, if I get excited about new colors...
Or a holiday (Independence Day in this one...)
I like to get creative, mostly to get reactions from my sisters' kiddos.
My nephew was learning about shapes in his preschool class 2 years ago (he was 3) and for some reason got really excited about everything shaped like a circle. He called this one "bubbles"
I'm a huge Carroll College Saints fan, so I play around with purple and gold colors for when I go to the games. My father and brother in law have learned to live with the fact that I kinda stand out in the crowd.
My boss is on our roller derby team and the theme of their most recent bout was 'rockabilly'. She asked if I would help with her makeup, so I decided to play. (I'm like a little kid with cosmetics...) I did the red first and she was a bit hesitant, so I toned it down...
Most recently however, and I feel this one is the most important of my yearly 'reasons to paint my face' was that today was our annual Under the Big Sky Buddy Walk for Down syndrome awareness. My beautiful nephew (the aforementioned 3 year old will be 5 next month) was born with 47 chromosomes. This makes him extra awesome. We haul family and friends to Great Falls every year to celebrate our amazing little dude and many others from around the state.
Buddy Walk colors are Blue and Gold. (I go through a lot of gold) I was practicing last night and this is the look I originally put together.
However, because I know the nature of makeup, and my blue liquid liner has gone to cosmetic heaven, I was afraid that my blue lines would have mixed with the gold by the time I got to Great Falls and made a lovely green color. Not really what I wanted... So I went back to the drawing board.
Here's what I ended up with today.
I think it was a hit. Our family, friends, and fellow walkers seemed to enjoy it! I got lots of comments, and little kids LOVED the feather eyelashes and jewels.
Totally worth the time it took to apply everything and the ridiculous amount of glue I had to wash off my face this evening.
What are your fun hobbies? Do you get to share them with others in your community?
*Sidenote: These are all pictures of my own face, I won't put anyone else on here if I don't have their permission first.
