Exercising to the Extreme or no exercise.

I have a problem. I seem to either want to exercise till I am exhausted or don't want to exercise at all. One day i walked five miles, it did take me three hours with my dog and then I walked two hours the rest of the week. But then I got a blister on my heel and then I didn't exercise again for a week. My Doctor even told me to exercise 45 minutes a day for five days a week. not to go EXTREME.

I don't know what is wrong with me. I think I have to beat my best and then when i have to just do 45 minutes. I guess i think i am not doing much. But Sparks Coach said all things in moderation. So today after no exercising due to mediation for a month, I am taking my trusty dog Nikita out for a 45 minute walk. And i am going to time it.

The week i walked all those hours i didn't even lose a lb. just thought you should know. I was upset. So I am going to try to exercise in Moderation and see where that gets me.

    I think you have hit the nail on the head. I will make a goal for myself to exercise 30 minutes EACH and EVERY Day!

    I have that all or nothing personality too! I have to pace myself, I tire easy and know my heart health is the reason. I wish you the best. Do your best. Any exercise is better than none. emoticon emoticon emoticon

sorry to hear you are upset, but you think we'd know these old bodies of ours by now, if we want it to drop some fat,it won't, I wonder if we want to gain, if it just wouldn't... - don't know never had that problem.

I did just walk 30 min. with Leslie on the Walk Away the Pounds video... I also walked 105 min. on Friday on the boardwalk, but I have to get some consistency going again.. I weighed in this a.m. and am back up 4 lbs., so that is 11 since I got here, so much for thinking I lost 2 last week and it was great, because this week I found those 2 + 2 more... So much for Thanksgiving.. that is not something to be thankful for. But, I did walk, so for that I can and WILL be thankful. Mother is going away tomorrow, so I better make myself walk then too. Feeling pretty lonely and worthless, so eating is filling that void again, I know only too well what the result of that is..

    Thank you for all the comments. I have started walking 20 minutes with Nikita. She would walk for ever if she could. haha. It's going to start raining here soon. but we wear rain gear, so we will do fine outside; Thank you again for the comments.

    The big thing is to make it part of a routine. I do a mile in the morning and a mile in the afternoon. Not much more then walking but the trick is that I am consistently making a goal. (10miles a week)
You sound like how I am with my housework. I will do a marathon cleaning spree and work until I pass out on the couch and then let it slide for 4-5 days Then I have even more work then if I kept it up.

Lucky you, to have such a wonderful walking partner ! Does Nikita
get you doing some brisk walking, just to keep up with him/her ?
If so, that would be good ! They say that you should aim for doing
a brisk walk - as if you were trying to catch a bus, before it's gone !
It's good, to get your arms involved, too, with "pumping", to help
get your heart-rate up. I wish you and your dog, many years of healthy,
happy walking ! emoticon

    I thought about your blog for a long while before I wrote this. And then I realised what I want to say. I looked at the background of your page, and saw those heart-warming eyes of your dog - is this Nikita? Look into those beautiful eyes and trust in the wisdom of your devoted pet. He/she wants you to be happy and energised and walk with you every day. Ten minutes would be fine, 45 mins if you like, but he/she doesn't want you to overdo it until you are sore... you wouldn't do it to him/her...so don't do it to yourself. He/she looks kind and patient and healthy and awesome... I wish all these qualities for you too. Just look back at your goals; think about why they are important to you; and know that every day you are getting closer to realising them... with a loyal friend by your side to give you a big hug/licky kiss to reinforce your belief in yourself.

  Maybe its just that you want to feel the burn of exercising. I feel the same. If i dont sweat by the time im done exercising i am not satisfied. So what i do is pick workout video that are more active that i know will make me sweat. Try some intense workout videos.
