Love Me Some Goals!

I've seen several Spark friends posting goal blogs and I feel it's time for me to do one too...there's something about the crisp fall air and change of seasons that makes it appealing. And I love making a list anytime! So here are my October goals:

Nutrition:

Track food every day and continue getting at least 5 freggies and 10 cups of water. I've had 2 weeks off from tracking because of travel and I feel a bit lost without it. Maintenance is still uncharted territory for me and I don't feel ready to abandon the most important component of my success. Plus, I can see myself slipping into the "I'm not tracking so let's have an extra cookie (or 3)" mindset. I know where that road is headed, and I'm not going there!

Fitness:

Continue burning 3000 calories each week through intentional exercise. With colder weather and especially shorter days, this gets harder. Usually in the winter I have to decrease to 2500 because it's just too cold and dark to get any extra evening fitness and that's what I have to do to stay at that level. But I'm going to push myself in October to do as much extra walking and biking as possible, along with my circuit training DVDs.

Run at least 15 miles a week. I've done this every week for more than 2 years, so no worries. I will be doing the Spark Trick or Treat Trot 10k. Might do a little hometown race in a couple of weeks, but probably not. Racing just doesn't float my boat and I'm giving myself permission NOT to run competitively.

Weight:

Maintain at or below 142 pounds.

Life:

Sort through my gift tote and figure out Christmas gifts.
Plant fruit trees at the farm and finish all the fall gardening tasks at our house.
Finish up paperwork and accounting regarding Dad's death and farm transition.
Write letters to several people who have sent me gracious notes about some recent writing I've had published.
Do a thorough fall house cleaning and help Juliana switch bedrooms. BIG job!
Sort through all my notes and ideas from the library conference and prioritize projects.
Plan a "date" with my husband.

By the way, today is Juliana's 17th birthday. She inherited my chocoholic gene so I'm making her a "Chocolate Wasted" cake as seen on Pinterest...that thing is Satan in chocolate form!!! But we'll be having the family over to help eat it so it's all good.

    You have a great list of goals! Your health and fitness goals seem very reasonable. Have you ever tried a Dancing With the Stars DVD? They're fun and challenging, and would be a good way to get in some extra cardio on those cold fall/winter evenings.

Your life goals sound a bit daunting, but I think you're just a lot more energetic and productive than I am. I know you'll feel great when you get them done.

Good for you for setting those goals. They seem both sensible and nicely challenging. And I agree with you about the tracking... If I don't track, I get it completely wrong!

    These goals are great. It's interesting how you can learn along the way. Knowing that you need to track is so important & super that you recognize that you need to do it to succeed. i love your commitment to exercise. Keep on burning those cals:) Happy b-day to your daughter. And yay to meeting your October goals!
