when is it going to end

Saturday, October 06, 2012

About 3 weeks ago I had surgery on my ankle to have some tendons repaired. (the injury happened in april and it took until sept for the surgeon to decide it was surgical) So for the last 3 weeks I have not been able to bear weight on the foot, I sit on the couch and watch my thighs and backside getting larger.....I do see a light at the end of the tunnel though, I have an appt with the surgeon next friday and by then I should be able to do some light walking.....here comes the kicker. On thurs night after dinner I had huge pain in my upper abdomen about 45 minutes after eating, I threw up my dinner and felt better immediately....I thought I had food poisoning and went to bed. The next morning I ate my breakfast only to have that pain return a hour after I ate, again I threw up but this time the pain did not go away. My mother on friday stays with me to keep me company and help me with some light house work, (my mom is the bomb I love her so much). She takes me to the emergency room where I had a ultrasound and find out I have gallstones and will have to have my gallbladder out. The ER dr told me to go home, eat small meals and contact a surgeon next week to make appt to have it removed....the problem is everytime I eat I get that huge pain....it last about 5-10 minutes but it is the worst pain....even labor did not hurt this bad......so my question is when is it going to end? When do I get my life back? I have a huge trip planned in 3 weeks to go to my brother in laws wedding and I am worried what condition I am going to be in for this trip......I know I will feel better once everything is healed, but really, I think I am done with all these repairs....I am only 47 but starting to feel a whole lot older......

I'm sorry to hear about the gallstones. I had my gallbladder out a few years ago and the gallbladder attack I had was just about the worst pain I had ever felt. Try to avoid any type of fatty foods if at all possible before the surgery...that should hopefully lessen the pain. Do what you need to do to heal up from your surgeries and don't push yourself too hard until your body is ready. Go ahead and try to make some nutrition changes and as you recover, start doing some light workouts like buying a peddler (you can get them on amazon for a cheap price) or use some of the light workouts on SP. Just do what you can do right now to make healthy choices and once you are back to 100%, start back up with an exercise plan. emoticon emoticon

I wish my magic wand could help you but instead am sending positive vibes to you for a speedy recovery. Perhaps doing some bed yoga or couch yoga would help. There are lots of resources online about that. Keep your joints moving and help you mind as well.
