Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Beautiful poem for a beautiful day! Thank you for sharing & reminding us the road less travel may be filled with bumps & bruises but at the end of the journey is our just reward.

God bless,

Dee

    Reminds me of Matthew 7:13-14...
"Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that lead to life, and few find it."

We need to be willing to go against the flow, to ignore the crowds that tell us we're going in the wrong direction because we're not doing what everyone else is doing. When they are all doing what seems easy and fun, but leads to eventual pain, we need to stick to our guns and keep making the tough choices now that lead to long term benefits.

    Love that poem also.....
In my lifetime - I often took the 'road not taken' - and was the better for it. But, alas, too often - I took the road well traveled ...... and have some regrets.

Lovely photos.....I tried to import one of mine - similar to yours - but couldn't seem to do it. I love to look at that photo --- it makes me think.

Thanks for the blog.....

Libby
