Getting Sick

I started to get a scratchy throat yesterday morning and it worsened some during the course of the day. My online students noticed a difference in my voice.

As soon as I finished work at 3pm, I went outside and took a nap in the bed of the pick-up (the black bed liner means it's always toasty warmmmm). I dozed there for about an hour and a half, then went to bed until 6:40. I got up and puttered a while, then went to bed again about 9.

I'm going to throw together a quick vegetable/tomato soup in the crockpot now, then walk a bit on the treadmill, but I'm not going to push it.

It's been exhausting with my husband having shingles. He's past the rash stage, but is suffering terribly from neuralgia and can barely sleep, which means I haven't slept through a night in a month and a half either. I guess a cold was inevitable at some point.

BUT I will stay on my eating plan, keep within the lower range of my calories, and try to move on the treadmill. Tomorrow is my timed 5K. I still plan to push through this funk and do the best I can.

    Sounds like you may need some extra B vitamins. They help with stress. You also may want to try the homeopathic medication OSCILLOCOCCINUM. Nicknamed "Oscillo". They have it in many drugstores, and in the pharmacy sections of groceries and big stores.

Oscillococcinum helps when you feel flu-ish. You just use a tiny vial and sprinkle the little balls UNDER your tongue. Doesn't taste bad or anything. Tastes kind of like the fake-medicine sugar pills we used to have in playsets.

Do you do yoga? Even a bit of yoga; nothing "fancy". Also, becoming aware of your breathing and releasing stress and fatigue.

Maybe melatonin can help you sleep better. TWO people not sleeping doesn't help either of you. I'll be thinking of you!!

    aacch, i'm getting sick too. i just got and up and had a shower. it's 2pm!! my choice of treatments is lots of vitamin c. and today i took some cold pills too. but, vitamin c is the best.
let's all get better soon! emoticon

    I've been following The Body Ecology diet rather (not 100%) closely, and they say that it's normal to feel funky as you're lessening the candiasis in the body. Who knows if this cold is related.

Zycam on board, and my husband will bring home an onion that I'll cut in half and let soak in honey for 24 + hrs. Then I take a spoonful whenever I pass by the container, if I'm sick.

He'll also bring me propolis and balsam extract. The flavor is intense, but it helps.

    I'm so sorry! I had a scratchy throat the past 2 days and felt really drained. I got a flu shot THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPT!

So, I don't know if it was my body kicking out a bug or just a few "off" days but I feel a little better today. Maybe you'll get over it quickly? Hope so!
