10 Pounds by Christmas Challenge

Friday, October 05, 2012

I've been stalled in my weight loss for a few weeks. emoticon And then today, my weigh-in showed a gain of 0.6 pounds. Sure, I know it's not much, but after not losing for two weigh-ins previously, it's a trend that needs to stop.

And I know what's tripping me up. I'm doing great on my fitness minutes, but not so great on my nutrition. I've gone back to snacking a little as I'm cooking supper AND I haven't been tracking my supper/evening calories.

I got complacent.

I figured I knew how many calories everything had, so I stopped measuring my supper. I just eyeballed it and if it didn't look filling enough, I added a little more. I knew I was on a downhill slide this week when I added shredded cheese to my spaghetti. I haven't done that since I started Sparking.

Mea culpa.

So I updated my page to show that weight gain - no sweeping it under the carpet. And I decided to set a goal of 10 pounds lost by Christmas. emoticon

In my case, the goal date is actually the 21st (Winter Solstice!) as I weigh in on Fridays. It's 11 full weeks. Should be doable, even at my normal snailish losing pace.

Starting weight: 182.6 emoticon

Target weight: 172.6 (Although I'd really do the happy dance if I could get under 170) emoticon

Reward: Since I've already set a mini goal/reward for reaching my halfway weight (172.5) I'll just stick with that: $50 to spend at emoticon

Anyone want to join me??? I'd love to have you along. emoticon

    All Right....
This will be the first time I have ever joined a weight loss challenge. I'm a little scared that I will fail you and everyone else but it's the only way I will ever know the answer. Maybe this is what I need to push me forward and knowing I have friends cheering me and each other on might be what I have been missing all along.
Lets do this thing my friend!
335 start weight...

I am ready for that challenge also - I put 2 pounds back on myself, and I agree that measuring is the key. I think I can eyeball but , I cannot - another thing for me is coffee - I love cream with my coffee and I indulge in two 16 oz cup every morning its almost like senseless calories so I need to nip that in the bud - cut back to one. I am 197 as of today - I would like to be 187 by Dec. 21 st.

I also joined the a walking to a destination club (virtual) on the treadmill. I was planning to map out and walk to various destinations over the winter months. You can do this ! Lets work together. Hugs emoticon

Don't be too hard on yourself Amy! The good thing is that you noticed what was making you slip in time, and now are on the path to rectifying it!

I'll join you in that challenge, although for me, I'm going to make it twelve pounds. I'm 167 now, and would love to make it to 155 by Christmas! My secondary goal is 150 if I reach the 155 early (I've been losing a lot of weight quickly recently, so if that lasts, knock on wood, I just might be able to do that!). So I'm in Amy, but for me the goal is 12-17 pounds! I hope I don't regret committing to this, lol!

I am in too Amy! My goal was to lose 10 pounds by Thanksgiving, but I think your goal of December 21st is much more doable. My pace is definitely becoming snail like too. This feels good to work on this with everyone.

Thank you for the blog!

well, I told myself for every five pounds I lost I'd buy a set of fiesta ware; so far I have two sets. BUT Herbergers had a sale and I had coupons for more discounts so last weekend I bought three more sets BUT they are in their boxes, in a bag, in my back closet and will not be opened until I lose five, ten, fifteen pounds. Now I would really like to have a four place setting out by that means I need to lose ten pounds... okay I was thinking Thanksgiving, but being realistic think Christmas is more do-able...
my ultimate goal is to have an 8 place setting...I am buying a variety of colors..a rainbow plus and I can't wait to have people over and set the table with all of them..

so..count me in...ten gone by Christmas.and as I have yo-yo'd between two to three pounds the past weeks.. I do need a jumpstart again..

If there's room for an Old Un then I'm in Amy - I am setting myself a target weight loss of 20lb by my Return to Birmingham on the 21st of December - I'm going back to visit Friends and Relatives, and I'm attending a Christmas party while I am there.

I will give it my all Ladies, we can do this together. emoticon

Yup, I am in! I need my diet buddies to get going again, so this is perfect for me. If I lose more than the ten thats great to but I will be happy with ten if thats all i can do.
I have struggled over the last couple months with water gains and probably regular weight gain too, because of tests and traveling for those tests and I have a few more to go... so this, at least, may help me tgry a little harder to limp through those times without gaining

Thanks ! emoticon emoticon emoticon

After going on a toot for almost 6 months beginning the first of this year and putting on about 30 lbs, I've started losing it again and making a goal of 10 lbs a month from now till the first of the year. So, yes ill join you in this challenge. Inspired by my disdain with my MD, I am determined to lose once and for all. Lean on me, we'll do this together!!
