I've been working the Sparkpeople program faithfully now for 65 days. In that time I have lost about 18 lbs and more importantly as a diabetic, I have brought my A1c down from 9.0 to 7.4!
This program has really helped me as it has kept me honest. I am very diligent about recording everything I eat. The fitness recording is also great. I find myself setting goals regarding the number of minutes I will workout and how many calories I can burn. When I first started, I was happy if I burned 400kcal in exercise. Now I am up to 600-650kcal per session at the gym. My next goal is to get to 800kcal. The hard part is finding the time. I prefer getting my exercise at the gym, but I am trying to incorporate at least a few minutes in the evening at home.
Currently, I am 4.5 lbs from my first wgt goal of 180lbs. At 179.9, I am no longer considered obese, just overweight. Reaching this goal will mean so much. It has been nearly 20 yrs since I haven't been obese. Wish me luck!
