Preparing for Tomorrow
Thursday, October 04, 2012
Overnight we are supposed to get our first freeze. That means a little fire in the woodstove - just enough to keep things warm inside.
I'll exercise in the morning to get the juices flowing then enjoy another bowl of my oatmeal, spelt and flax mix. Maybe I'll put pumpkin and baking spice mix in it like I did today.
For lunch maybe a spicy taco-style salad so full of flavor and veggies I can pick at it instead of opening the icebox and staring.
I know just because of the chill and the first fire of the year I'll be in one of those homey moods. The first chill I learned a trigger point was the aromas that filled the air. This time I will not start my low-sodium vegetable soup until late afternoon.
When I do indulge I'll be sure and measure and track it. No random sampling!
Dessert is planned, too. Baked cinnamon apples with a thin layer of filo topper. Since that doesn't take long to bake so I'll do it after dinner so I won't be tempted.
Another thing I'll be prepared to do is work on crafts to keep my hands busy. I'll even write letters to family and friends. It will be a break between autumn cleaning and the 5k walk/run on Saturday.
Yes, I'm prepared this time!
