Time To Be Honest

Thursday, October 04, 2012

Ok so I will go ahead and say it out loud...... I have gained back FIFTY pounds. I am now experiencing some of the problems that prompted me to start my weight loss journey in 2008. My feet hurt. I can't sleep as well, who knows maybe I have sleep apnea again. I find my self making huffing and puffing noises when I get up too. I have out grown all me cute clothes and I am now regret giving all my big clothes away. It was so easy to gain it back 5 pounds at a time. Food is just like a drug to me. So I have finally decided that I have to take control of the situation right now. I have to have a game plan. Start measuring my portions and making healthy choices. Get control of my snacking. I lost 168 pounds before, I can lose again. I want to feel good again. I want to have lots of energy. No more excuses....I can and I will do this. I am so grateful that is here to help and support me once again. Lorraine

    Kudos to your efforts!

Have been wrestling with similar gains, despite my level of exercise...zipping the lip has not been my strong suit!

I'm with you in turning this around!

Good for you, Lorraine for saying it all right out loud. Getting real is the best way for getting started. Backsliding is HARD! But so many of us do it. It will be great to get the support from SP friends as you get back on track, and you will also be giving hope and courage to people who are in the same position of you of needing to lose weight they have gained back.

Your plan sounds good.

A couple of questions about your feet, which I ask because I have terrible foot problems.

1. Do you have custom orthotics? The kind you get at the podiatrist and made for your feet alone?

2. Have you tried acupuncture? That has helped with both my foot problems and my sleep problems.

I don't know what your foot problems are. Mine are metatarsal capsulitis, bunions, and plantar fasciitis. A book I found very helpful was Every Woman's Guide to Foot Pain Relief which you can get for your Kindle, tablet or Nook, buy in book form, or get from your local library.

It has exercises and many suggestions for healing your feet. It helps to keep the weight off when you can keep moving!

You have done this before, you can do it again. You have the knowhow, you have the courage, and you have the honesty to face this front on and win.

Good for you coming back! I know how you feel, I gained too. It's a good thing we have Spark to return to. I think it's going to be easier this time.

Well, the good news is you know what to do. Get back to basics, log your food and your walking. get your walking buddy geared up. Luckily it will be cooling off soon out there (hopefully) My friend who lives out around in Southern CA said it has been very hot.

Come here every day. If you don't, you will listen to the excuse. and once you make one excuse, it's easier to make another.

How do I know this? Cause I just got myself geared back up again too!

Hi Lorraine - Coming back after being away for a while is hard. I know, I came back a few months ago after gaining back 30 of the 65 lbs previously lost. I look at it this way - at least we have a place to come back to. Where Spark family makes you feel "at home" among friends who never judge, always encourage and are just a click away. You are a true inspiration to many. Welcome back.

Oh Lori, saying it out loud is the first step, and you just need to find your positive motivation - I've joined the Redlands Y since they put in the new aqua center - message me if you wanna take the dogs to Mt. Rubidoux - if you need a "weight loss buddy" even short time message me and we can walk dogs together !!

Sure sound like you have taken stock, made your plan, and can draw on experience and know-how to lose the weight! You are human, you've made mistakes like we all have. You are also strong, determined, taking responsibility and taking charge!

emoticon forward. Kudos go out to you for posting this blog.
I know what a mind game it can be to admit our setbacks and become accountable for our actions. Bravo! I know you are heading in the right direction. When ever I feel I am "out of control" I put my food scale on the counter....and use it. This seems to trigger my mind into wanting to eat healthier. emoticon We are all here for you. emoticon

Oh Lorraine! You are so brave to post this and to be so honest with yourself. It must be hard to face this in light of the success you've had losing weight. Remember that you CAN do this. It might even be easier because you've done it before and know your body well now. Maybe you need a new motivation to work towards, like an even to train for?
