The Secret Stash

Thursday, October 04, 2012

I think everyone has a secret stash in their home. I have a
secret stash of money, just in case the weekend comes and
the wallet is empty. Yes, it happens from time to time. I could
ask DH for money but I try to plan ahead for the times
when DS needs a little extra so a secret stash comes in handy.
I also have a secret stash of treats-for the GC. I have a special
place and they know where it is. Their favorite cereal and
granola bars that they enjoy. If I put them in the pantry, it
is likely that DH will have eaten them already and the kids
are out of luck. It so happens that this door is off limits to
me. I know those treats are just for them. Is this tempting?
It could be but grandma likes to surprise them and have
little goodies ready.
Do you have a secret stash? Is it tempting? Do you have
enough courage and willpower to turn away? Just remember
that treats are okay. Moderation is the key.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. HUGS!

My secret stash was not very secret. DD or DH knew to look alongside the desk for any junk food that was being kept "out of sight". I don't keep a secret stash anymore.

No food stash, but like many I have that secret cash stash as well. All it takes is one emergency and lesson learned!

No secret stashes here. I don't have anybody here that doesn't share well.

yes I do have a secret stash, you name it, a little money, food, dry goods, and I was not raised in the depression, but I think I inherited the mentality of putting back from my parents, I know the hard times they had when they were first married. so yep, I even have bedding, towels and such just in case, and no I do not think I am a pack rat, or hoarder, just a saver emoticon

Ever since I got caught years and years ago without enough money to pay the toll across the Mississippi on my way home from work when the interstate was closed down and the free bridge, I have always had what I refer to as "mad money".
However, when DH was going for radiation we got caught without much $$$. We were running late and somehow, I left home without my purse and he didn't take his wallet when he went there and we needed gas and no $$$ and no credit cards. We scared us $4 in change in the car and put that in so we could get home and now even the car has "mad moeny" so we won't ever be in that fix again!!

I have a secret stash of cash for emergencies but have long ago giving up keeping any secret stash that has anything to do with food. I work hard to keep only good clean food in the house so that when I feel weak and want something bad, I just don't have it. That works for me as I won't get in the car and go get it.
Everyone is different. Got to do what works for you.
    Have a nice evening.

I have problems with secret stashes, so for the most part, NO! However, when I'm gathering items for a box to ship to my son... that's off limits. Twice in two deployments I've got stressed enough to hit it and have to make an extra trip to the store, but I'm pretty good about respecting his "treats".

Moderation is key. If there are things that tempt me to be immoderate, I'm best leaving them in the store!

I don't have the treats one but I always have the money one...and you are right it often comes in handy but when I stash enough I buy something big and start all over again! emoticon

Sounds like a great grandma to me! When you live alone, no need or secret stashes. Moderation is everything is the way to go.
