Stay in the picture

Thursday, October 04, 2012

I seldom agree with the Huffington Post but this article they had today was so poignant and so true for us all - that I wanted to be sure all my spark friends saw it ... just in case you didn't:

For many years, I was the one taking the pictures. Then
came the time for 3 generation pictures with DH and MIL
and I was never included. One Sunday, I walked away
from my DD's house and cried. Why couldn't I have
been included in just ONE of those special moments?
Did I not count? Yes, I know it was DH's side of the
family that was celebrating 3 generations. Both of
my parents are gone and I will NEVER have that kind
of opportunity to see my mom, myself and my DD's
in such a picture. How much time would it have taken
to include me? I finally told my DD's how I felt and since
then, at least one picture includes me, albeit I am told
to stand on the far side. Hurtful, but at least I am there.
One day they may wish I was there but for now, I know
I was there and they chose to focus on someone else.
Do not cry for me but give thought to who you include.
Someone is waiting for their time in the limelight, too.
