Juice Fasting: Day 4 - Two Mile Run!! :)

So, today is Day 4.

I went for my C25K run this morning, week 5, day 2. I was supposed to run 3/4 mile, walk 1/2 mile, and run 3/4 mile. But I felt like I could run farther so I ended up doing a solid 2 mile run!! No stopping! The farthest I've ever done was the one mile run a couple weeks ago! Whoo hoo!! =D I ran quite slow, of course, but I didn't stop! That's about 2/3 of the distance of the 5K.

I'm still hungry. I hope I go into the "no hunger" phase soon, when my digestive system "shuts down".

I'm actually enjoying tea a LOT. I never used to like tea, except for black tea with cream and sugar. Then I found out that I don't mind Tazo tea. Now, I'm LOVING my Tazo Refresh (peppermint) tea, as well as a random brand of decaf Earl Gray. Tea has become my treat and my replacement for comfort foods/coffee. It's warm and soothing and delicious. And perfectly healthy :) I'm staying away from caffeinated teas, though, which unfortunately means I can't drink my beloved Chai :(

I finished reading "Eat to Live" by Dr.Joel Fuhrman last night. What a great book! I started reading it last week before I started my juice fast, and I thought that the foods he suggested were kind of "blah" and restrictive; especially since he uses NO added sugar, oil (not even olive oil), or salt. However, when I was reading the book last night, 3 full days into my fast and hungry, even the most restrictive part (the first six weeks) sounded sooooo good LOL. I think I'm going to follow his "first six weeks" guidelines for the first six weeks after I end my fast. This is his six week plan:

UNLIMITED:
Raw vegetables (goal: 1 lb daily)
Cooked vegetables (goal: 1 lb daily)
Beans, legumes, bean sprouts, and tofu (goal: 1 cup per day)
Fresh fruits (at least 4 per day)

LIMITED:
Cooked starchy vegetables/whole grains (squash, corn, white potatoes
bread, cereal; not more than 1 cup per day)
Raw nuts and seeds (1oz max per day)
Avocado (2oz max per day)
Dried fruit (2 tbsp. max per day)
Ground flax seeds (1 tbsp. max per day)

OFF-LIMITS
Dairy
Animal products
Snacking
Fruit juice
Oils

It's important to ease into eating after coming off a long fast, and so I think this plan will be great for that. I won't go directly into eating the full amount of food he suggests immediately, but I will combine food and juice and work up to that amount.

My weight today was down to 174 which means.......I AM NO LONGER OBESE!!! :) Now I am simply overweight hahahaha.

I found this picture on my laptop today. That was almost 30 pounds ago - those jeans in the picture and the shirt are now too big =D
