I started a 100 day challenge on 9/25/12, which will end on 1/2/2013, coincidentally 1 year from the day I got serious about following SparkPeople in 2012 (I got off track for 6 1/2 months in 2012, but I'm back now.)
The challenge is pretty simple: For 100 days, I will use the trackers and resources on SparkPeople.com to monitor my nutrition and fitness, and I will get at least 10 minutes of exercise every day. I did bend my own rules slightly this week to allow for one day completely off of exercise out of every 10 days, to allow for illness. I made myself a tracking sheet with the 100 days broken up into 10, 10-day sections, and it's posted prominently on my refrigerator. I am going to weigh myself at the end of every 10 day period (so the morning of day 11, day 21, 31, etc.) I have to say, having the tracking spreadsheet on my fridge, right there in front of me, has been helpful so far.
In addition to just trying to stay within my calorie limits, I am also being very conscientious about getting in my water and fruits and veggies every day. I gave up pop on day 5 (even diet pop), and am going to steer clear of alcohol too. I am not a big drinker anyway, so that won't be a hardship for me.
I am on day 9 today, and I am AMAZED at how much better I feel than I did 10 days ago. AMAZED. I won't weigh myself until this Friday morning (day 11), so I don't know what the scale is saying yet, but I feel so much more alive and healthier, and I have so much more energy!
Looking ahead, I am a little bit nervous about my sister-in-law's baby shower this weekend; I agreed to bring 4 dozen homemade cookies (a kind I've made before that she really likes), and it's going to be a big challenge to not attack them. Thinking of having my husband actually make and package up the cookies for me to take (the shower is 300 miles away). I'm staying in a hotel with a fitness room, so my workout gear will be packed so I can at least stay on top of the calories burned, even if I do go over my calories-in numbers for the day on Saturday.
My meals and snacks are planned for today, and I already got 40 minutes of exercise in at the gym this morning, so I'd say day 9 is a success. :)
