My 30th Birthday ...an eyeopener
Wednesday, October 03, 2012
A few months ago I decided I had enough of my lazy lifestyle and wanted 2 be back on track. I am turning 30 on 28th of November, a few months from the date I decided I needed to change. Coincidently I started working out on 15th of August which is the Independence day for India, the same day I was looking forward to getting Independence from my old hangups, my weight and all my frustrations related to it.
My goal was to lose 25 pounds till my 30th b'day. I know 30 is just a number and my freaking out is a little too irrational but there are things you want in your life before you turn 30. The one thing I really want before my 30th b'day is to be healthy and fit. 25 pounds is just another number to challenge myself, if it works I am going 2 be on top of the world, if it doesn't m going to try harder and get there even if requires a little more time.
My fitness plan included working with a trainer thrice a week. For those who aren't accountable to themselves like I am, it is a wise choice to hire a good personal trainer who supports you plus pushes so you really know what you are capable of plus you can leave all the figuring out your exercises part to them. I am building strength and endurance, losing weight plus regaining my self esteem. Working out empowers me not just physically but mentally as well as I know I am getting stringer and healthier by the day.
My diet plan is to not really go an a diet but make healthy choices as much as you can. Me and my husband are big foodies and he got home some biryani and kadai chicken yesterday, probably the best ones I had tasted in my life. I had a few spoonfulls of biryani, a piece of chicken sans the gravy and this is how I avoided the two sided guilt of giving up yummy food or eating too much greasy food. The best plan is to know what you put in your mouth and be conscious about it. Increasing your water intake is equally important as diet management.
Another things is not to be troubled my numbers on the weighing scale, I have lost just 7 pounds in 9 weeks but dropped a dress size. I just bought a pair of jeans a size smaller than I used to wear last week and by this week its already loose :)
So now I know that thirty is not just a number, it is the time you start getting wiser and better.
