MOVING MIL DAY 11

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

So far so good but I'm tired of emptying boxes with no place to put anything. One thing is for certain, it will be sometime before I will have to buy another bottle of hand lotion. Or lipstick, or soap. Just goes to show, you need to clean out your cupboards every year so you can see what you squirreled away.
Today is pack and move whatever is left at the apartment. We have movers coming to pack up the china cabinet and its contents to send to my son in North Carolina along with the table and 6 chairs. I have window treatments to remove and try and figure out what to do with. And throw out the food in the refrigerator. My brother in law is coming to help my husband do this today as I have an installation of draperies and bedding for a client.
I am real tired of going through boxes of stuff. And I can't throw things away if she is watching. So we throw when she isn't watching.
Yesterday, we were able to make a phone call to her 97 year old sister who sounded real chipper. Her daughter and my husband were in the background translating all the messages.
We've actually enjoyed visiting with her. So many have posted that their relatives were mean in their later years but she is quite mellow, at least so far. Right now my husband is ranting and raving about where we are going to plug in the alarm system as we need a phone jack for it. Got to go and look.

My aunt is 87, hale, hearty, and so much fun to visit with - I call her every Sunday, and when the hour's up, neither of us knows where the time went, so I know what you mean about enjoying visiting with your MiL!

After my dad passed away, I had 90% of the work cleaning out the house. There were those who just came in to take the big stuff, but I was shredding papers for hours, and going through the "stuff". Not a pleasant job. I am pretty good about getting rid of things. In the past few months, we have started getting rid of things we never use. Saturday is shred day at our bank, and we are taking a lot of old papers and recieipts to get rid of.

Don't forget to rest.
