Things Never Turn Out The Way You Expect

When I got up this morning I was highly motivated and had so much energy. I knew that I would do everything right today. I weighed in this morning and as I already mentioned a few ago, I didn't make it to onederland, but its ok I guess. I also took my measurements because I haven't done that in a long time.
Then I had a great breakfast and did a pilates workout I found on Sparkpeople. For lunch I didn't feel too hungry, so I only grabbed an apple.
It was such a beautiful sunny and warm day. It was the perfect weather to go running. I put on my workout clothes and shoes, took my dog to my favourite trail and started running. I am a slow runner, I probably walk faster than I run, but I enjoy it. I ran for about three minutes and then continued walking because for some reason my endurance on pavement sucks. When I got on 'my' trail, I started running again and it felt great and I kept running and running without feeling exhaustion nor pain in my legs. But it seemed like things were too good to be true because suddenly, I tripped and twisted my ankle. It was so painful and of course, there was noone in sight. I called my dog to me and put him back on the leash and thought about calling someone to pick me up, but as if things weren't bad enough, I didn't have any service. Somehow I had to walk back to the road. The first steps hurt so bad, but then I noticed that walking kinda helped to ease the pain and when I got back to the road, I didn't feel the need to call someone to pick me up. I walked back home and took my shoe off to put some ice on it. My ankle is swolen and it still hurts, so I might not be able to run for a few days.
I am asking myself why do these things always have to happen when you are so motivated?

    OMG! The SAME thing happened to me on Saturday!!! Just the day before I'd started the Rookie Runnign Program and loved my day 1 training. Then Saturday I woke up happy, motivated and thinner. I immediately went for a long walk and when I was at the farthest point from home (ready to turn around), BAM! I twisted my ankle...had to walk home on it. I haven't continued the training but thankfully my ankle isn't too bad, so I am hoping to get back to training any day now.

My Spark Friend Abilucha also twisted her ankle recently...and not long after one of her best ever runs!!! So, it's going around...it's not just you. Keep your chin up. I'm glad you made it home safe and it sounds like the sprain isn't bad enough to keep you out of commission long. Get well and keep your spark!

    Go to the doctor to make sure it isn't broken....I broke my leg and still walked on it. emoticon

    Oh no! If the swelling increases get to an M.D. for x-rays. Ice it like you are doing. In the mean time elevate your foot and if you can take ibuprofen that is the best choice as it is specific for swelling. Sorry : ( and a hug
