Neptune Festival this past weekend at the oceanfront. It was supposed to be a sunny day for the race, grand parade and sand castle competition, well....Mother Nature changed her plans. Rain, rain, and more rain on race day, boo. There was no way the rain was going to stop me and Sis from a great race, just means we would run faster so we could get out of the rain, lol.
Started out with a super pace, sis wasn't "feelin" it, she hasn't run in a while so we slowed it up a bit, then speeded it back up. She got a stitch about mile 2 so I kept going. Sis said we could finish in 52:00 minutes, well me being the "realist" I had set my goal for 55 minutes or under.
I was heading down the home stretch when DH took this pic, I think I was not wanting to see the finish line clock, but to my surprise it was 53:06, woo hoo. I finished UNDER my GOAL, yeah. That was the vote of confidence I needed for this month's 6-miler - I CAN DO IT, I CAN and WILL beat the last 6-milers time. Bring on the WICKED 10K.
After race party was nice, except it's way too early in the morning for beer and pizza, lol, guess it's 5:00 somewhere for runners, it was actually 9:15. Posed with King Neptune for a picture only to discover it was really Queen Neptune.
Great race, but didn't stay for the parade, we were wet from running and it started to get a bit breezy so we headed home. Can't wait til next race, in the mean time, logging the miles training for the half-marathon, this week's long run is 7 miles, meeting the SIL for that on Saturday.
