MIL's 89th Birthday! This is part of her huge family!
She had 6 children and they all had 2 each except for 1 who had 3 and another who had 1!
Those children have started having children so this photo is a mix. The 3 younger ones in the front are great grand children.
We had a wonderful day. The weather was a bit too warm so we stayed inside and turned on the airconditioner! A small taste of things to come!
I am now going back to Tasmania as my mother is not doing well so I am going to be a support for my younger sister and my step dad. My mother is in an aged care facility and she is in the final stages of dementia. She needs to be given permission to let go and be at peace and without pain!
It is her photo that I have as my back ground to this page . She is probably in her early 40's here!
She immigrated from Holland after WW2 and was in Holland during the famine. She studied to become a pattern maker and dressmaker. She used to design and make coats and wedding dresses for people , she taught all the women in the village we lived in how to sew. She never charged a cent!
I have wonderful memories of her taking us for big long walks when we were children.
The ravages of both rheumatoid and osteo arthritis really affected her health.
when my parents marriage broke up she developed another auto immune disease of the skin and that was devastating. Oh and she also had Tuberculosis after the war and went to a Sanatorium for 2 years! This was before she came out to Australia!
So as you can see my mum is one tuff cookie!
She has survived a mild heart attack, broken neck of femur with an operation to repair it! All in her 80's!
Any way I am off to give her lots of gentle hugs and Kisses and will be as in touch as I can.
