Hovering

Sunday, September 30, 2012

I hover around the same weight (sometimes five pounds over, sometimes five pounds under).....why this weight instead of 20 pounds less? Will I ever get there?

I can relate as well. It happens to all of us. Just hang in there and keep at it. It WILL work out eventually.

I know where you're coming from. Of course we know the answer to the puzzle.....Self-discipline. If we exercise it, we win.

It is hard to say why you are hovering. Have you checked all the obvious culprits, for instance - have you lost enough you need to change you calorie range? Are you eating enough but not too much? Sometimes eating below the minimums that your body needs can result in plateaus and/or gains. Are you getting in a rut? Maybe your body needs something it is not getting, or your exercise routine needs to be changed, or you want to try something new. Are you eating HEALTHY and not just within your calorie ranges? For instance highly processed foods, or those with high sugar content, high fat content, low fiber, high artificial sweeteners and/food additives, or high sodium can all account for stalled and/or rising scale numbers. Finally, the last question is whether your goal weight is appropriate for YOU - not everyone is meant to be on the LOW end of the recommended weights on the charts.

I can so relate. I've lost about 37 pounds in the last two years. I want to lose another 20. I made a page here and started tracking my food. It has helped and the scale is going down. I previously stayed at the same 33 pound lost for about 6 months. I think my body needed to get adjusted to this weight loss and is now ready to start losing again. I also think tracking has really helped me as I did not do it before. Know you will start losing again and try not to let it frustrate you. Good Luck

    Hi~

I'm doing exactly the same thing...it is frustrating. At least we haven't gained 20 lbs....that's how I'm trying to look at it.

Donna~
