Well, we had a lovely week in Hawaii. I did NOT get to do even a small portion of the hikes I wanted to. Between the heat and humidity and my knee, it just wasn't feasible. But I did get in a few, including a portion of the botanical gardens, which were lovely. And I did get to see a sea turtle in the ocean, not in at an aquarium, which was incredible! I have thousands of photos to go through now...
As much as I wanted to stay and enjoy Hawaii for another week or three, I'm glad to be home. There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed, and being able to cuddle with the significant other without sticking to each other from sweat (ick!). The vacation rental was nice, but it wasn't home.
The good news when I got home...compared to my pre-vacation weigh in, I only gained 0.2 lbs during that trip! And I did not deprive myself. I had malasadas with everyone else. And loco moco smothered in gravy and egg yolk. And especially ice cream and ice wine for dessert every other night! And all sorts of other things that are generally considered not good for you in any but the smallest of quantities. I also ate tons of fresh fruit every morning, thanks to the incredible farmer's market in the town we were staying in.
All in all it was a wonderful trip and I can't wait to go back!
