Well we got up at 6;45. By we I mean the dog and I. My son sawed logs for another 30 minutes. Gave the puppy a pit stop and checked to see that I had my pink baseball hat wrapped with my boa ready. My donation form was already in the van. Water bottle (pink) full. My Timmy's card handy. 7;25 and ready to roll. A quick trip through Timmy's drive through and we were off. I miscalculated a little. We were there 30 minutes early. Time to visit the survivors' tent and wait in line (like always) for the ladies loo. We put on our Run for the Cure T-shirts and got ready for the countdown. The first 300 feet was a leisurely stroll. Couldn't get around the dogs, strollers and walkers. Soon we found a sidewalk and started my tortoise 'run'. There were fantastic volunteers to cheer us on all along the way. The pink outfits were fantastic especially the guys in pink tights and too-toos. By guys I mean males. About half way we came to the hill. We could hear cow bells, horns and cheers as those ahead of us mounted the hill. We (I) slowed a little and leaned into the hill and pressed on. 2K to go. I stopped for a few moments for a drink and then we chugged along until the next 'little' hill. Tom was carrying my stuff at this point. My beast of burden he called himself! 500m to go!! We (I) picked up the pace to a mindboggling 5.3mph. The frizz on Tom's beautiful furry pink tophat was streaming to the rear of us as we finished the race arm in arm! What a fantastic day. We will do this again!
