So I came across a 30 Day Blog Challenge posted by TANYAP71 for September, but as it is nearly the end of Sept, I decided to go ahead and start it anyways and just use it for October (starting a couple days early), and will go through it a few questions at a time, as time permits.

1: Your stats. Starting stats, current stats, goal stats. Are you currently trying to lose weight, gain weight, or maintain weight or something else? Do you have a goal for the month of October?

My stats. I am a 39 year-old female, 5'7" tall, and my starting weight is 167.1 (BMI = 26.2). My current weight is 163 (four pounds lost -- yeah!) My goal weight is 145, so I am trying to lose weight. My weight loss goal for October is to lose 5 pounds. (And manage to get my house packed and ready to move at the end of October without totally losing my mind!)

2. How did you pick your goal weight? Did you pick an ultimate goal weight at the beginning of your weight loss? Did it change? Did you get smaller goals along the way?

This is a good question for me to think about, because I did set an 'ultimate goal weight' when I started 2 weeks ago. But it is always easier to strive for smaller goals, like 5 pounds increments and a 5% loss goal = 8.4 pounds; 10% loss = 16.7 pounds. Otherwise 22 pounds is a bit big to think about. In fact, I'm going to add this to my SparkPage, now that I've thought it out a little more. I chose my goal weight based on it being directly smack in the middle of my healthy weight range. Not sure that is necessarily the best way to pick it, and I haven't maintained 145 since I was in college, but I think it's doable and the real test will be working on maintaining once I'm there.

3. Who have you shared your weight loss goals with? What has been good about sharing your goals?

So far, I've shared my goal with my mom and the SparkPeople community. The good thing about sharing is that it helps you stay a little more accountable -- although I'm finding that the daily logging on here and daily blogging has been very helpful in keeping me on track every day.

Okay, rest of questions to follow..
