Starting Over

Friday, September 28, 2012

The last five weekends have been wonderful. I have been to a friend's cottage on the lake, where we rubberstamped and ate, then Labor Day weekend I went to Girl Scout camp, where we crafted and ate. The following weekend was spent with friends, stamping and eating. Then I had a stamping workshop with some of my favorite ladies and guess what: we ate yummy homemade quiche. Then last weekend I went away for some rubberstamping classes and since eating was mostly fast food, again it wasn't the healthiest, although I did make some good choices.

After losing 90 pounds, I have managed to regain 25. It didn't all happen in the last 5 weeks, but the scale going over 190 was a wake up call. At my lowest I was 165. I wasn't there for long. Today I was back to 188. I had maintained in the 182-185 range for over a year. When I lost the weight, I had gone from a high of 256 and size 26, down to size 10's. I have to wear 12's right now and I never bought 14's on the way down. ALL my fat clothes have been donated, so I need to get serious again.

My biggest problem is grazing. When I get together with friends and good food, it's like I take a vacation from healthy eating. I know I shouldn't, but after 50+ years of bad habits, I still revert to the old me. I'm going to start the Fall 5% challenge next week. I need some accountability. I need to get back to my healthy habits. I'm gonna go make something healthy right now to take to work tomorrow. (I'm working the next 2 weekends......payback for having had those weekends off). Maybe I'll hit more than one Zumba class next week too.

I think most of us can confess to having those times! I have been up and down over the last 4 years. My last gain from last fall to spring was 44lbs. before I decided I needed to do something. It is hard to come to it but I'm glad you are going to get serious again. It will make you feel so good to get back to the program. I find I'm happiest when I'm in my healthy routine and you will too.

Great times. Good on you!

I hate that re-gaining happens so quickly.

Yup, I did the same thing. I lost 50 lbs. two years ago, and gained back 14. I'm 5'2 so that really shows up fast on me. October I am going to devote to Zumba-ing at least 4-5 times a week. Should be easy since I love it so much. I like the amount of calories I burn in an hour @ least 500-600 calories. I have to start dieting too. More salads in my future for sure. Good luck on your challenge.

You sound like me. I lost 20 only to gain 14 back. I blamed it on life, but i know it was me making bad choices. The good thing is you know what to do. Start planning your days food or your weeks meals and snacks at work and scheduling in your exercise. You can get back on track. Just recognizing it is the first step. I started on the right track this week, and so can you.
