Back pain = no exercise

Thursday, September 27, 2012

This is a first for me - back pain. Never had any idea what it would feel like to have a low back injury and now I have tons of respect for those that live with chronic back problems. It started on Saturday after returning from San Antonio - a 4 hour drive. Maybe sitting in the car that long caused it - but I really have no idea. It became progressively worse until I went out for a jog and got just about 3 steps before giving up. I got almost no sleep last night or the night before being unable to get comfortable even with prescription pain meds left over from a recent finger injury.

My focus the last few days has been on pain management - got lots of practice. It was hard though. Today things seem to be improving and I have an appt with my doctor in the morning. I cut back on food a bit due to less exercise and tried to stay at the lower end of my range. Now to give it another day or so of rest, see what the doctor says and hopefully start back into my normal life this weekend.

I have had back pain from injuries and or car accidents etc. No surgery thank God. Have you been to your doctor yet? I have been put on muscle relaxants in the past and also pain medication. Do you have a heating pad or a magic bag? I guess I have been lucky that I have not had to have surgery of any kind. Generally its better to exercise than to do nothing. Best of luck .

I hear your pain. I have had 2 surgeries in the last year. No one believes that I can take 2 hdro10's and still feel the pain. I hope that you feel better and dont push it. It's hard to do but it helps! I can not sit more than 30 minutes, And here's to natural child birth which was easier than a bad back. At least you ate less but the last surgery I had I went up the scale now I am taking extra weight off. I really will say a prayer and I wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy as they say!!!!!!

Oh no! Back pain is not fun. So sorry. I hope you begin PT soon and heal well. when do you see the doctor? Gosh buddy, I will be sending healing blessings your way. Ice or 2 pound bags of frozen peas really help. Soaking in hot baths with Epsom Salts helps also. I had a work related spinal injury almost 20 years ago. I would rather give natural childbirth daily than to experience that pain again! hugs to you!

Feel better, back pain is one of the worst! Nothing is comfortable. I've had surgery & still hurt my back. Take it easy & don't push to hard.
