I went with friends on this hike, this indian summer weather is awesome. We went through a forest and up eventually above the treeline to the bottom of Mt Baker's glacier.
There were several streams to cross along the way
This one was challenging to cross
Others were easy
Mt Baker is an active volcano, it mostly spouts from a steam vent but every once in a while, some lava will spew as well. The experts say it could blow in a big way "sometime within the next 100,000 years" In the streams among the regular sedimentary rock, there were also reddish pumice volcanic rocks
The trees gradually thinned and we reached our destination, the glacier. This hike was 6 miles total, a very nice easy and scenic hike.
