Am I a Runner?

Thursday, September 27, 2012

I have always wanted to run but never thought I could do it. Back when I was a smoker, I could not even run around the block without losing my breath. I have not smoked in over 10 years, and even though I am heavier, I am in much better physical shape. So, over the last couple of years, I have tried to run.....but... it's hard!

Since joining SP, I have recommitted myself to becoming a runner!!

emoticon I have signed up for the virtual 5K Trick or Treat Trot
emoticon I have purchase new awesome running shoes
emoticon I am trying to run 2 - 3 days a week on my treadmill
emoticon So far, I can run 5K in about 38 minutes

Every time I run 5K, I am proud of myself. Every time I run, I push myself to keep going even when that little voice says to stop or slow down..... I keep telling that little voice in my head that I am a runner!!

My next test is to take my running outside. I know that will be challenging for me both physically, and mentally....... My ultimate goal is to run in an actual 5K race!

Keep up the good work! You are runner! As far as transitioning to outside it will come! And now I hate running on the treadmill. I enjoy the outside scenery so much more than looking at a blank wall infront of me. emoticon

Here is a couple of my favorite quotes:

I often hear people say 'I'm not a real runner!' We are all runners, some just run faster than others, that's all. I have never met a fake runner - Bart Yasso of Runnerís World

If you run, you are a runner. It doesnít matter how fast or how far. It doesnít matter if today is your first day or if youíve been running for 20 years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get in. You just run. John Bingaman

You are definitely a runner!!!!

Good for you!!! I have also always wanted to run, but couldn't run down the street with out getting winded and a cramp in my side. I just signed up for a running club that starts tonight. Good luck to you!! Keep up the good work and emoticon
