Jumped The Gun!!

I think that I jumped the gun with writing my last blog and pledging that I could reach my goal in the nest 15 weeks! ha! Well, not the way I've been going this last while! Eat, eat, eat! It's like I want to eat everything in sight and everything tastes so good. I don't know if it's the change of seasons or being in the middle of Menopause?! I do know that I won't give up and that I'll keep exercising and will try harder every day to choose the more healthy choices. I've been drinking my water, have been eating my freggies. It's the main meals that get me off track. Pizza, muffins, banana bread, sweet rolls, chips, are all comfort foods to me and they taste so good in the Fall. I need to change my tune and zero in on comfort foods that have been modified into more healthy dishes. I have so many good SP friends that do so good every day it seems and they're such motivators for me, I have no excuse!! Thanks everybody for listening to my latest woes! I will get there! I know I will!

    Oh yes, I know what you mean. Fall comes, then winter and pain - even here in Florida. But I do try to keep the "comfort foods" under control by not having them in the house or by keeping fruit by my side at all time.

I actually ripped through a grapefruit AND 2 oranges last night when the munchie monster jumped on my back! I didn't even realize I was ripping it apart like it was a T-bone and I had been deprived of meat for years! It was that or the ice cream and I cannot do the ice crema anymore! Not until I can convince aunt Di to get me the half-the-fat Coffee Fudge Brownie (Breyers) that I have told her not to bring into the house. Now I have to tell her she CAN bring it in... anything but the stuff that is full-fat and in the freezer now!

Like I said, I keep a banana in my purse when I leave the house. I keep oranges and grapefruit and yogurt by my bed when I go in to watch TV at night. And some cantaloupe or honeydew melon. They fulfill the sugar cravings.

Anyway, that's the only way I am able to get past the cravings these days. I hope you find somthing that works for you, dearie!

    As you saw on my latest blog I'm right there with you. Perhaps it's hardwired into our bodies? We feel the need to fuel up so we can make it through the lean cold winter?

    can we blame it on nature? i think adding a few pounds to ward off winter chills is great for people who don't have any excess fat stores. maybe it's just something our body wants to do because it knows what's ahead, yet somehow it doesn't know that we already have enough insulation? emoticon
it's amazing to me how our bodies do so much to preserve our lives, but in our culture, where famine is NEVER an issue (unless we choose to starve ourselves), the systems designed to keep us alive just keep us overweight.

    I am right there with you. Fall is sad for me because I know I am facing our long, cold, hard winters and its the worst time of the year for me for my RA. I just seem to freeze up and feel endlessly cold, stiff and in pain. Our days are lovely, but the night time temps are already hitting freezing, meaning cold rides to my morning classes. I used to eat one bag of hot buttered popcorn after the other to stay warm lol. I don't have very many sinful choices in my apartment so my 'discipline' is really only because its not there to indulge in. Currently I have some popcorn, dark 90% cocoa chocolate and some Cheetos crunchy. Yes, I could chow down all three in one day, but have been too busy to lol. My other favorite comfort food is mac & cheese which I have a whole cupboard full, but have not been using simply because I am filling up on all my favorite root veggies and have no room for extras. In the past it would have been one whole package after the other, I could never get enough!!
Sparks does have great recipes that make over favorites, so maybe want to check them out so you can still indulge in pizza, but maybe more waist friendly...

    Fall is tough for me too. All those comfort foods are soooo yummy, but not so healthy. Try to find some healthier versions of the stuff you like and that might help a bit. Hang in there... you are worth it!

    You can do it. I know what you mean about fall comfort foods though. It can be hard. Maybe do a google search on "comfort foods, low calorie" and you might get inspired and be able to fill your cravings in a lighter way. Just keep at it...you will get through this AND reach your goal. I know it.

    I can definitely relate to endulging in comfort foods during this time of year. Your positive outlook should make it easy to get back on track. Baby steps! You can do it!

    My weakness around Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie! It is a real struggle for me to not sit and eat the whole thing, LOL! emoticon
Try focusing on the positive idea of increasing your fresh fruits and vegetables and getting more servings of those in, rather than the negative thought that you "can't have" this or that.......Maybe that will help, emoticon

    I have the same problem and the solution is the same as yours. I have been starving lately. And I am eating too much. I need comfort food and know how to make healthy substitutes.

    Wow, I thought I was the only one! Fall is certainly the time for comfort food isn't it? I keep thinking about pumpkin or banana bread or apple muffins or even cider. I keep holding off on making them because I don't want to "re-up" and encourage my sweet tooth.

Maybe we need to find some trimmed down recipes for all of those amazing fall treats so that we don't feel deprived and still stay on track. Although it sounds like you're still in touch with a healthy eating plan and are taking good care of you! emoticon
