Today I did the Tabata Inferno, alone. I hate doing this one alone, I like having someone to share the misery with. I hate the first circuit! Its a hard way to start a tough workout, at least for me. I got through it, though I did struggle through the first circuit. After that I got into it and found myself doing 7-8 pushups today, an improvement but I still have a long way to go. I have found that having some high energy music in the background really helps me. The workouts seem to go faster when the music is on. I am going to do a 10 minute ABS workout during MNF tonight. Just a mixture of the tough S90 ABS moves as well as a couple of ABS moves done in Callanetics. I decided to train my ABS on cardio days and rest days.
In other news...went to my first horse races yesterday, the closing day of the season at Emerald Downs. It was fun. We bet $5 bets on 5 races and won one race; it was very exciting!
I met a gentleman who had a daughter who is a jockey and was racing in most of the races. I learned a bit about horse racing from him and found him to be charming. We ate some garlic fries that tasted okay but I was sick last night and again this morning. Once a year I try eating deep fried food and once again learn why I don't eat that garbage! We did a lot of walking though; we parked about 1.5 miles from the entrance and turned the walk into a workout and then we walked a lot inside and took the stairs up to the upper floors several times, finding it much easier to take care of racing business as well as personal business (restrooms) and being in a much smaller crowd. The higher you go, we found, the less people. That was another part of the fun, just people watching! Some were really intensely into the betting, some were into the food and beer, some were into the horses and some didn't seem to into it at all. There were people celebrating, cursing, crying (tears of sorrow and joy) and much jumping up and down and screaming! Ice cream cones were floating about everywhere and I wanted one very badly but restrained. Had I seen them first I would have had a small one instead of garlic fries and would have been much happier all around. All in all it was a fun day at the races. We left after the 5th race to beat the crowd and took the walk at a brisk pace the 1.5 miles back to the car, again making it a workout.
