Sundays in my house are generally pretty lazy. It's our day to watch football (Go Bears!), get some housework done, do some marking and laundry, and have a family home-cooked dinner. But it's 5:00 now and I'm tired of being lazy. I haven't done any laundry OR marking, I don't feel like cooking dinner (DH is), and I really don't want to do any housework. But, a woman's work is never done and it certainly isn't going to get done with me sitting on the computer all day!
We are having sweet potato squash for summer. We've never had it before, but what I can tell you, is that my house smells DELICIOUS right now. He cut it length-wise, scooped out the seeds, put a little bit of margarine, brown sugar, and nutmeg in them, and they are currently on a baking sheet in the oven. Likely not the healthiest way to cook this squash, but where I gain calories there, I will eliminate them elsewhere (such as through an after-dinner snack). Sometimes calories are just WORTH IT. I will post a picture when it's done.
Yesterday marked a big day for us which will culminate tomorrow. We have been looking for a travel trailer for us to use for camping. We all love camping, but being 37 years old with a bit of an over-active bladder isn't lending itself well to tent camping and squatting in the woods to pee in the middle of the night. With our summers off, we have some grand plans to travel and having a trailer to do that in just seems like the thing to do. It will save us money while giving us lifelong adventures to remember. My husband is kind of what I refer to as "cheap" when it comes to money and big purchases. Granted, we worked our tails off this past year to get ourselves debt free. Now we are looking at an $8000 trailer. But, our decision is this - we are investing in our family's recreation and in family time. This makes it all worth it. Giving my boys opportunities through travel in North America is an amazing gift that would be much harder to do with $100+ hotel rooms as opposed to $40 campsites.
We looked at this trailer and I instantly fell in love with it. I gave DH time to look at it and didn't press him about anything. About an hour later, he says he thinks we should get it. It's really nice and perfect for our family - even as the boys get older. So tomorrow morning, DH is calling the dealer with the intention of not stopping negotiations until we own it. I am so looking forward to camping with my boys and DH and I know this will be a lifelong adventure for many years.
I hope you're all enjoying your weekend and keep on Sparking!
