day 1 ... starting anew

Sunday, September 23, 2012

i have been sick for three weeks.
the first 8 days i had a fever ..upper respiratory infection....that wasn't going away on antibiotics ... and then it did ... til i got another fever ... ear infection (so immature!) ..... and then just when i started to feel a bit better, my youngest got very ill .... so i wasn't doing more than walking my dog for exercise .....

i still have a cough ... and i'm pretty run down ... but i ran today ... two and a half mile walk/jog in 35 minutes ... good to do it ... not as good as i've been doing ... i'm wondering how long it will take me to work back up to where i was ....

i didn't gain weight though ... i'm proud that with little to no exercise that i didn't gain .... but i'm way behind now in goals ...

so ...i'm a little discouraged at my setback ... and a little optimistic that i get a fresh start ...that my learning curve won't be as steep as i get going this time .....

today is day 1 in what i plan to be a very long exercise streak.

Glad you are on the mend! You will get back at it and feel great. I have been a huge slacker the last several weeks. I am surprised every time, despite lengthy breaks in exercise, I can get back close to where I was. You CAN do it!

As a bit of encouragement, I had joined a group about 6 months ago where we started walking 2 miles each morning with working the stations on the second mile. The first day was tough but the next day was unbelievably easier.

Then my partner started some college courses and dropped out on me. I wasn't strong enough to stay motivated myself yet :(

Anyway, about a month ago a friend of ours who is a personal trainer came into town and took us out to the same park. I was amazed; after being out of the routine for about 4 months it was still easier then that very first time.

You can do it and you will be back up to snuff in no time! I just pray that because you didn't gain weight you don't lose your steam and intensity.

Keep going and I am so inspired by your story because it reminded me of my story which has given me motivation to get back on the track.

Thank you!
