Looks like I will be making a doctor's appointment tomorrow, as I STILL can't speak. This has been going on since Wednesday of this past week. My oldest daughter and my coworker were both sick last week and so nicely shared whatever they had.

I have had a dry cough for the past week, and lost my voice on Wednesday and have been very hoarse since. Yesterday I was amazed to have made almost 3000 steps even though I slept most of the afternoon after doing our grocery shopping.

I really need to figure out why I seem to be catching every cold that goes around. I have lost my voice at least 5 times already this year and a few years ago this type of illness ended with me on medical leave from my job for 4 months. The only thing that seems to cure it is the use of steroids but I hate the way I feel when I am on them. I think I may have to have a discussion with my doctor if it is possible that any of this is related to my asthma or not.

I have been taking a vitamin C and D supplement along with a multivitamin combined with my healthier diet I thought that getting sick would become less frequent. I may have to ask for further testing of my immune system as it seems I am always tired and I get sick far too easily.

I just find this all so infuriating because I am trying to finish my current chapter for school so I can re-do 2 of my dictations that actually count toward my overall grade. I am afraid to attempt the retries because my ears are also sore and I seem to have a lot of waxy discharge (sorry TMI) and wearing my headphones seems to exacerbate the problem.

Sorry this turned out long and whiny. I hope that everyone else had a great weekend.

The dumbest question - stress? It is said to lower the immune system... whch makes me wonder because I live with a high latent stress (the situation wit ex and daughter) yet I have hardly had any colds since I moved back here in 2009. My migraine has otten wors though...

Sorry to hear that you haven't been well. I know how frustrating it can be when you need to study but feel too sick. I hope your appointment helps. Take care and good luck on your dictations.

    Thanks for the comment PICKIE98.

I have had a CBC done along with lipids, thyroid and serum iron tests. They all came back "normal", go figure. I am going to ask for another round of blood work though just to make sure. I also think that an exercise stress test may be in order (not for the heart but lungs) just to rule out complications due to asthma.

Did you have a CBC, have your WBC's checked? I do not blame you about the steroids though.. something is up.. Good luck at the doctor.
